Advertise your event on Council’s What’s on calendar. Find out if you’re eligible and submit a listing.

Promote your event in Brisbane

Brisbane is a vibrant city with events for people of all ages, interests and lifestyles. Council’s event calendar makes it easy to find out what’s on in one place.

You can list events that are held in a Council park or venue and are open to the public.

By listing an event you can:

  • get free advertising – there are no listing fees
  • have your event automatically listed on the Brisbane app 
  • promote your event to a wide audience, including residents and visitors
  • target promotion to people with specific interests.

People can use the calendar’s search function to find events in different categories.

Check eligibility before you apply

Your event must meet all of the following:

  • be open to the public (members-only events are not accepted)
  • meet the requirements for your event type.

Event types

Additional criteria may apply depending on your event. Select the option that best matches your event when submitting your listing.

Must be:

Must either:

  • take place at a Council venue or park
  • be a Council sponsored event
  • be part of a Council program or event.

Your event must have all required Council approvals, permits or bookings in place before you submit an event.

This includes approvals for parks, community halls or markets.

Submitting a creative event?

Arts and cultural events funded through a Council program must be submitted using the creative event form. Check the creative events criteria to see if your event is eligible.

Must have received creative sector funding to deliver arts and cultural events through one of the following programs:

  • Council events
  • creative or historical grants
  • Cultural Facilities Management Funding 
  • Cultural Organisation Investment Funding 
  • Signature City Festivals
  • Council sponsorship
  • Suburban Community and Multicultural Festival Funding.

Must be:

  • a Ward Office event, open to the general public, at a Council park or venue
  • an event at a Council park or venue (in your ward) and open to the general public. It must have been approved as part of the Lord Mayor's Suburban Initiative Fund.

Submit your listing

You must apply to list your event on the What’s on in Brisbane calendar.

The sooner you submit your listing, the more time your event has to be promoted. Allow up to 5 days for your listing request to be processed and submit your event well in advance to allow time for review and publication.

How to list your event
1 Prepare your listing information

Have the following details ready before you start your application:

  • event name and type
  • date and running time
  • venue
  • ticketing information
  • event description
  • age range of attendees
  • event image.

Image requirements

Provide an image that represents your event.

  • Use a landscape image (wide format works best)
  • Portrait images may be cropped when displayed
  • Avoid logos, text or graphics in the image
  • File size: less than 1 MB

If your event image doesn’t meet requirements, you’ll be asked to provide a suitable one or an alternative image may be used.

3 After you submit

Your request will be processed within 5 business days. We may ask for more information to support your submission.  

If your event isn’t suitable for the calendar, we’ll let you know. 

Privacy policy

Purpose

Brisbane City Council collects and uses your personal information to assess and publish your event on the What’s on in Brisbane calendar.

Your personal information is managed in line with the Information Privacy Act 2009, which sets rules for how government agencies collect, store and handle personal information.

Informed consent

Brisbane City Council uses Trumba, a third-party provider, to manage event submissions.

When you submit your event:

  • your personal information will be collected and securely stored using Trumba
  • your information will be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States of America
  • Council staff will access your information through this system to assess and publish your event.

By submitting an event, you consent to your personal information being transferred to and stored on Trumba’s servers in the United States of America.

Frequently asked questions

 

To submit a recurring event, tick the ‘repeat’ box on the online form. You can also confirm if your event recurs weekly, monthly or annually. 

Yes, all events on Council’s event calendar also appear in the Brisbane app’s events listing. 

However, anyone can also create an event in the app. Find out more about the Brisbane app.
