Use this page to find out about facilities and services in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha including the Auditorium, Botanic Gardens Cafe, Queensland Herbarium, Mt Coot-tha Library, Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre, multiple picnic areas, Richard Randall Art Studio and Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium. Each of these facilities have their own opening hours.
The Auditorium is available to hire for horticultural and art and craft shows and exhibitions. Parties, wedding receptions, or similar functions and commercial use are not currently permitted. Located in the beautiful botanic gardens, the Botanic Gardens Cafe opens:
Monday to Friday - 8.30am-4pm
Saturday - 8am-4pm

The Queensland Herbarium is the centre for research and information on Queensland flora, vegetation and plant communities.
Herbarium staff are involved in the discovery and naming of around 30 newly discovered Queensland plant species each year.
The Herbarium holds about 830,000 preserved plant specimens in its collection. The species are mainly from Queensland and represent more than 245 years of history.

Mt Coot-tha Library
The collection at the Mt Coot-tha Library includes books and magazines on horticulture, natural science, botany, environmental, and astronomy topics.
Located in the Administration building, the library is open:
- Tuesday to Thursday - 10am-4pm
- Friday, Sunday and Monday - 10am-3pm
- Saturday - 9am-4pm.
Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre
The Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre is the gateway to the greater Mt Coot-tha precinct. It includes information on the botanic gardens and its attractions, Mt Coot-tha Reserve walking and bikeway trails and picnic areas throughout the precinct.
The gardens are a great place for picnics. Facilities include picnic tables and seats in shaded areas. There are also toilets and drinking fountains throughout the gardens.
There are no barbecue facilities. Note: the Kitchen in the Gardens cooking facilities are for the exclusive use of garden workshops only.
Richard Randall Art Studio
Richard Randall Art Studio has reopened to the public subject to conditions.
Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium
Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is open with enhanced safety and social distancing measures in place.
