Victoria Park / Barrambin Master Plan Local Government Infrastructure Designation

In June 2023, Brisbane City Council endorsed the lodgement of an application to seek a Local Government Infrastructure Designation (LGID) for the park. A LGID is a statutory planning process under the Planning Act 2016 to facilitate the implementation of the Victoria Park / Barrambin Master Plan.

A LGID is a whole-of-government process that enables local community-supporting infrastructure to be delivered more efficiently.  The LGID will facilitate a park-wide planning designation for projects at Victoria Park / Barrambin.

Statutory consultation on the LGID for Victoria Park / Barrambin is now closed. Submissions were open between Friday 4 August 2023 and 11.59pm on Friday 15 September 2023. Council will consider all submissions and will publish a report summarising matters raised and how they have been addressed, as part of any decision to make a designation.

You can read the LGID Environmental Assessment Report and supporting technical documents that were prepared to support the LGID.

What is a LGID?

A Local Government Infrastructure Designation (LGID) is a statutory planning process to deliver certain types of infrastructure.

A LGID can be made by a local government under the Planning Act 2016 to designate land for development of certain infrastructure such as parks and recreational facilities, community and cultural facilities, sporting facilities and more.

The proposed LGID is a streamlined way to facilitate the delivery of the Victoria Park / Barrambin Master Plan.

The Master Plan for the 64 hectare parkland has been developed following three years of extensive community consultation to firstly develop the Victoria Park Vision and then to develop the Master Plan as a refined and tested roadmap for the future development of the park.
