Temporary compound works

Early works for the St Lucia Golf Links maintenance compound upgrade project will start in early March 2020, weather and construction conditions permitting. These works will include the creation of a temporary compound to house maintenance equipment.

Maintenance facilities and equipment are currently located in a compound within the golf course near Handel Street. The main project will involve demolition and replacement of buildings that have reached the end of their life cycle, or are not suitable for use by staff. Other buildings will remain. This project will ensure the facilities are fit for purpose in the future.

To facilitate this upgrade, a temporary compound needs to be built near the existing buildings (within the grounds of the golf course) to accommodate maintenance equipment during construction.

Works to construct the temporary compound will commence in early March 2020 and continue intermittently until mid-2020. Works will take place between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Residents on Castile Street, Cadiz Street and Handel Street may notice some dust, increased vehicle movements and low-level construction noise.

Golf course staff will use the temporary compound during the upgrade project and it will be removed once the project is completed. Council will make every effort to minimise disruption to the local community during these works. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience during this time.

Council has finalised the design for the maintenance compound upgrade, with construction of the project expected to commence in mid-2020. The removal of a number of trees on the golf course may be required. Further information will be provided to the local community prior to the start of works.

If you have any questions about these works, contact the project team:

  • by phone on 1800 884 681 during business hours
  • by phone via Council's 24-hour Contact Centre on 07 3403 8888
  • email.
