We know children want to cycle or scooter to school in Brisbane, yet only around 3% do. We want more students to ride to school and we want them to have the skills, confidence and experience to ride safely.
AST schools in their first year of the program have the opportunity to access free bike and scooter skills training sessions, courtesy of the Active School Travel program. The 90-minute bike skills and 60-minute scooter skills sessions are conducted by qualified coaches and students learn riding skills like braking, steering control, signalling, road crossing and footpath etiquette. Offered as an incursion, sessions are conducted in school time, on school grounds.
