About the project

Council is actively managing the climbing facilities at the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs through monitoring and regular maintenance to ensure safe facilities are provided.

Seven of the bollards were removed in July 2021 and an extra bollard had been previously removed. The eight bollards were replaced in three different areas:

  • one in the vicinity of Paton Street
  • two in the vicinity of Walmsley Street at the Nursery Cliffs
  • five in the vicinity of Llewellyn Street.

These works are part of a rolling program of works to inspect, maintain and replace the bollards at the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs. Updates will be provided prior to the closure of bollards.

Construction activities

Replacement of the bollards required drilling and installation of a stainless steel bollard, which is then filled with grout.

Council appreciates the popularity of these facilities among Brisbane’s rock-climbing community and the adjacent park space for local residents and visitors to our city. We appreciate your understanding during these works.
