Suncorp Stadium (Lang Park Traffic Area)

Suncorp Stadium (formerly known as Lang Park) is the largest sporting and event stadium in Brisbane. It is regularly used and attracts crowds over 52,000 people. The Lang Park Traffic Area was created to ensure that local residents in surrounding suburbs are able to access on-street parking during events. If you live within the Lang Park Traffic Area, you can apply for a parking permit. For information on public transport during events, visit the Translink website.

During events at Suncorp Stadium, a 15-minute parking limit applies on all roads from midday to 10pm, unless otherwise signed. Signs advising the 15-minute parking limit are located on the boundary of the Lang Park Traffic Area at every entry point. As a result of recommendations by the Lord Mayor's Parking Taskforce, all streets within the Lang Park Traffic Area are installed with advisory signage, ensuring awareness among motorists that they are within the traffic area.

Lang Park Traffic Area community consultation

In response to community feedback, Council is conducting a second consultation to allow members of the community who have not yet responded, the opportunity to share their view on a proposal to change the operating times of the area-wide parking conditions within the Lang Park Traffic Area on event days. The proposal is to alter the operating times from midday to 10pm (ten hours), to 3-10pm (seven hours).

Parking permits in Lang Park Traffic Area

Permit holders:

  • are exempt from the signed traffic area time limit when parking on streets listed on their permit
  • must clearly display their permit on the vehicle's windscreen or dashboard
  • are able to park in metered parking bays signed 'resident permit excepted' (free of charge with no time restriction)
  • may also park in other areas signed 'resident permit excepted' (with no time restriction).

Permits do not allow residents to park in designated statutory restricted areas, such as:

  • clearway zones
  • loading zones
  • no stopping zones
  • bus zones
  • taxi zones.

To help Brisbane motorists easily identify when they’ve parked within the Lang Park Traffic Area, Brisbane City Council has installed high visibility Traffic Area Reminder Signage. These signs are located underneath street signs and complement larger signage located on roads leading into the area.
