Council is upgrading Gardner Road, linking Priestdale Road to Underwood Road to improve connectivity and safety.

We’re pleased to share the design for a new Gardner Road connection is complete. The new connection will link Priestdale Road to Underwood Road in Rochedale.

This important upgrade will improve connectivity and safety for everyone who travels through this growing community.

We will begin the tender process for construction to begin later this year.

The Gardner Road project is jointly funded by the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council.

Works will include:

  • constructing Gardner Road from Priestdale Road to Underwood Road, with 2 through lanes in each direction
  • installing new traffic signals along Gardner Road at both the School Road and Priestdale Road intersections, with signalised pedestrian crossings
  • constructing a new bridge over the Bulimba Creek East Tributary, with a dedicated fauna crossing under the bridge
  • installing a footpath on the eastern side of the Gardner Road section, linking existing footpaths and improving active travel
  • installing a 2.5-metre-wide shared path on Gardner Road, linking Underwood Road and Priestdale Road
  • installing a 2.5-metre-wide shared path on the northern side of Priestdale Road connecting to the existing shared path
  • providing on-road cycle lanes on Gardner Road, connecting to existing cycle lanes at both Underwood Road and Priestdale Road
  • installing new signage and landscaping.
