We're creating Safer School Precincts in suburbs across Brisbane. The program will improve safety and make it easier to move around schools and local streets.

The Indooroopilly Safer School Precinct supports the following schools and surrounding local community:

  • Indooroopilly State High School
  • St Peter's Lutheran College
  • Brigidine College
  • Holy Family Primary School.

In mid-2026, we asked the community for feedback about their experiences travelling through the precinct.

We received valuable feedback from residents, school communities, local businesses and community organisations. They identified opportunities for improvement and challenges facing the community.

In 2027, we will reach out to the community again for feedback on the list of treatments to be included in the draft plan.

Over the coming months, we’ll meet with schools and key stakeholders. We’ll discuss the community consultation results and prioritise safety concerns. The school leadership team’s insights will help us better understand how families travel. They will build on the feedback received during consultation.

Our designers and engineers will use these insights and our technical findings to develop recommended treatments. The recommended treatments will be discussed with the school. Together, we will refine and finalise the treatments included in the plan and answer questions.

This process takes time as we continue meeting with schools. We’ll balance each school’s needs with technical guidelines and best-practice recommendations. We’re committed to working with schools to develop projects that deliver the greatest benefits for the community.

We expect to share the proposed treatments with the community for feedback in 2027. Construction will follow once the precinct plan is finalised.

We’ll keep the community informed as the project progresses. We’ll share the final Indooroopilly Safer School Precinct Plan when available. We’ll also share the construction details and timeframes before construction starts.
