Lambert Road, Indooroopilly - Better Suburbs – Places and Spaces

Link copied

We’re working with the local community to revitalise parts of Lambert Road, between Railway Avenue and Clarence Road, Indooroopilly.

This exciting project will consider connectivity with adjoining sites including Witton Barracks Park and the Indooroopilly Railway Station.

This project is part of the Better Suburbs – Places and Spaces program. It supports Council’s commitment to creating a city of vibrant neighbourhoods.

In July and August 2025, Council invited the community to share ideas and feedback to help inform the concept design for this neighbourhood precinct.

Your feedback highlighted key areas for improvement including:

  • more landscaping
  • better pedestrian access
  • improved safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

Council invites you to share your feedback on the concept design online or in person at our community information kiosks:

  • Saturday 28 March, 10am–12 noon at Witton Barracks Park
  • Tuesday 31 March, 7.30–9.30am near Indooroopilly Train Station.

Have your say by 11.59pm on Sunday 12 April 2026.

You can view the concept design, which includes:

  • more street trees and garden beds to improve landscaping, shade and comfort
  • potential for a wider footpath at the front of the Indooroopilly train station (managed by Queensland Rail),  to help people move more easily to and from the station
  • better footpath and pedestrian crossing connections along the northern and southern sides of Lambert Road, making it easier and safer to get around on foot
  • improved safety through narrowing of Lambert Road at the intersection with Clarence Road and realigned vehicle turnaround area. This encourages slower traffic speeds and reduces risk.
  • upgraded connections for people walking , cycling, or driving to the River Loop, Riverwalk and Witton Barracks Park
  • new seating areas and street furniture such as seats, bins and bike racks, plus creative placemaking elements to make the space more welcoming
  • a new entry and seating area for Witton Barracks Park and the community hub, giving people a clearer and more inviting place to meet and rest.

These changes are designed to support your daily travel, improve safety, and create a more comfortable place to spend time, whether you live nearby or are just passing through.

Note the proposed road and pedestrian safety improvements will require a loss of up to twelve car parking bays.

  • 14 July to 3 August 2025: Project launch and investigation plan for community ideas and feedback. Engagement activities occurred both on-site and online.
  • 23 March to 12 April 2026: Proposed concept design released for community feedback.
  • Early 2027: Final improvement plan released and start of construction.
  • Late 2027: Proposed project completion.
