Brisbane has the best lifestyle in Australia and we’re determined to keep it that way. While crime is a state issue, we’re doing what we can to make our suburbs safer and ensure youth crime is taken seriously.
Our Safety Camera Network is standing up for Brisbane on crime.
Council operates over 4,300 permanent, temporary, and mobile cameras for safety and security. The use of CCTV supports Council by:
- creating a safe and secure environment
- detering anti-social, harmful, or illegal behaviour activity and helping identifying offenders
- improving safety in public spaces and around Council-owned facilities
- monitoring safety issues at Council sites and events
- helping enforce Council’s local laws and Queensland Government legislation.
These commitments will help keep our community safe and protect Brisbane’s incredible lifestyle.
Suburban Safety Camera Network
Our Council will always stand up for Brisbane on crime. Council is deploying Suburban Safety Cameras in each Ward to keep our community safe. These new mobile units are part of the Lord Mayor's Safer Suburbs initiative.
The new cameras will provide 24/7 surveillance to increase safety and deter anti-social behaviour. Locations were chosen in consultation with the Queensland Police Service and our community safety partners.
