What is an unmanaged vehicle?

Council can only investigate vehicles that meet the unmanaged vehicle criteria.

An unmanaged vehicle is any vehicle left on a road or road-related area, such as a footpath, dividing strip or bike path, and is considered unmanaged if it’s:

  • left in a hazardous location
  • unsightly, dilapidated or dangerous to the public (e.g. wheels are missing or the vehicle has been vandalised)
  • not registered
  • abandoned.

You can report vehicles including:

  • cars
  • trucks
  • trailers
  • caravans
  • motorbikes.

Note

  • We consider a vehicle to be unregistered if it does not hold a current registration in Queensland or any other state or territory. 
  • Any unsightly or dilapidated vehicles must be assessed by an authorised person. These do not generally include vehicles that have minor damage, reasonable wear and tear, slightly dirty, etc.

What you need to provide
1 Issue details

You need to:

  • provide issue details (e.g. your concerns about the vehicle, whether you've reported the matter before, etc.)
  • let us know if the issue is a public safety concern.
2 Vehicle details

You must provide information about the vehicle, including its type, colour and the date it was left.

You can also:

  • check the vehicle's registration status
  • provide the registration plates and Vehicle Identification Number
  • attach up to 5 photos.
3 Location details

Provide location details, including a street, suburb and postcode. 

4 Contact details

Provide your contact details, including a name, phone number and email address.
