Paddington Terraces Precinct Grant Project
Brisbane City Council, through the Village Precinct Projects program, is working with local communities to create great places with vibrant neighbourhood centres and improved amenity for the local community and visitors to use and enjoy. Through grant-funded precinct projects like the Paddington Terraces project, Council helps support and deliver infrastructure which enhances and celebrates neighbourhood centres.
Paddington 4064 delivery partnership
The Paddington Terraces Precinct Grant Project seeks to celebrate the local character, enhance the night-time presence and improve the amenity of the centre.
With funding support from the Australian Government and working closely with the Paddington 4064 business group, Council will help support and deliver the $300,000 infrastructure improvement project. This will help create an inviting and distinctive centre.
The Paddington Terraces project has delivered warm-white energy-efficient LED bud lighting to 32 street trees along Given and Latrobe terraces to improve night-time amenity. The street tree bud lighting, switched on at the 2019 Paddington Christmas Festival, has created a vibrant neighbourhood and identity for the local shopping precinct.
Other improvements being delivered include mural artworks, illuminated gateway signage and artwork projection installations providing increased day and night-time amenity and identity for the local neighbourhood centre.
Community consultation and engagement
Council invited the community to share their views on the Paddington neighbourhood and provide feedback on the public space improvements for the centre in late 2019. This feedback has informed the improvement proposal and creative outcomes for the Paddington Terraces precinct.

Construction and installation
Installation is planned for late September 2020 and expected to be completed by late 2020, weather permitting.
Properties near the work may experience some construction noise, dust and vibration, however, every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community.
Council will consult with each business adjacent to any construction as part of the project. Access to businesses will be maintained during business hours.
