Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association maintenance shed upgrade - Camp Hill
Brisbane City Council is pleased to announce that construction for a new maintenance shed and associated works at the Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association (BMTA) playing fields, located at Whites Hill Reserve, Camp Hill, will start in mid-April 2020, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Council is committed to improving a broad range of well-managed, high-quality community facilities that meet the needs of the community.
About the project
The new maintenance shed will be located approximately 200 metres from the clubhouse, near field four, in the lower section of the BMTA playing fields.
The project works will include:
- construction of a new maintenance shed near field four, containing a wash down bay, storage areas and hygiene facilities for staff
- installation of a new stormwater tank and pump shed for future field irrigation
- trenching works to connect underground services to the new maintenance shed.
The aim of this project is to increase the safety and lifecycle of the club's maintenance facilities, to meet the growing needs of the club and users of the playing fields.
Construction will take place between 6.30am-6.30pm, Monday to Saturday and will be completed in mid to late 2020, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Council is committed to working with BMTA to ensure club events, training and games experience minimal construction impacts, wherever possible. Advance notice of out-of-hours work, noisy work, or major access changes will be provided to BMTA and other clubs and properties in proximity of the works area.
Access to the BMTA playing fields and clubhouse will be maintained throughout construction.
Visitors to Whites Hill Reserve and the sporting fields may experience some construction noise, dust and low levels of vibration.
For the safety of workers, pedestrians and players, the work areas will be fenced off for the duration of the works. Safe pedestrian and player access around the worksite will be maintained throughout construction.
There will be increased vehicle movements through the Whites Hill Reserve entrance (off Boundary Road) and some parking spaces in the parking area may be temporarily unavailable. Short delays may be experienced as vehicles enter and leave the site, and minor pedestrian and vehicle detours may be required. Traffic control and signage will be in place to safely direct road users and pedestrians around the site. Due to workplace health and safety requirements, reversing beepers cannot be turned off.
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to the local community. Council thanks the community in advance for their patience and understanding while we complete this important work.
