About the project
Council is committed to keeping Brisbane clean and green, making our city liveable and sustainable for future generations.
Council is pleased to release an opportunities plan for upgrades to Wembley Park for community feedback.
Wembley Park currently provides a range of recreation opportunities from formalised netball courts, play and picnic areas and quiet relaxing spaces to walk, cycle and enjoy the local creek.
The Wembley Park project will investigate opportunities to improve the health of the waterway and local ecosystems and upgrade and enhance existing park facilities in this vibrant green space.
Community feedback has helped shape the opportunities plan which considers:
- reconfiguration of the existing 12 hard courts and 14 soft courts (26 in total) to 20 hard courts with possible lighting
- areas for further waterway health investigations to support revegetation
- upgrades to play and picnic areas
- improved pedestrian and cycle path connectivity
- retention of existing open space for recreation or quiet relaxation
- formalising a car park area.
Community consultation on the opportunities plan will occur in November and December 2019.
Council will use the community feedback to develop a draft concept plan which will be released for further community feedback in 2020.
