Bus accessibility

All Brisbane City Council buses are low-floor allowing easy access for all passengers.

These low-floor buses have:

  • level access through the front door instead of steps
  • a ramp for wheelchair or mobility device access with a maximum capacity of 300 kilograms.
  • two designated spaces for wheelchairs or mobility devices up to 1300 mm long and 800 mm wide.

Bus stop upgrades

The Bus Stop Upgrades Program (BSUP) involves upgrading Brisbane's bus stops to ensure the public transport network is safe, accessible and meets current legislative standards are accessible to people of all abilities. Find out more about the Bus Stop Upgrades Program.

Visually impaired passenger telephone service

The visually impaired passenger telephone service is for passengers with a visual impairment that require assistance to access a Council bus service.

To use this service, phone Council on 07 3403 8888 and provide the:

  • location
  • route
  • time of the service you intend to catch.
