Kangaroo Point Cliffs bollard maintenance project

Link copied

Council will be removing 41 concrete climbing bollards along the top of Kangaroo Point cliffs from late June 2025.

Council manages the climbing facilities at the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs with a monitoring and maintenance program. This ensures we're providing safe climbing facilities for users.

We've replaced existing ring bolts with Council-certified ring bolts and have installed additional ones. These additional ring bolts will facilitate the remove of 41 old concrete bollards.

The 18 stainless-steel bollards that have been replaced in recent years will not be removed.

  • March 2025: Replaced existing ring bolts in the stone wall at the top of Kangaroo Point cliffs with Council-certified ring bolts. Installed additional ring bolts.
  • Late June 2025: Removal of 41 old concrete bollards.

An exclusion zone will be set up during construction around the bollards being removed at the top and the base of the cliffs. The remaining climbing facilities and cliff face will remain operational during the works.

Throughout the works, you can expect temporary footpath and localised carpark closures at the top of the cliffs where bollards are being removed. This will be for short periods of time while works are underway at nearby bollards.
