When you need filming or photography approval
You must have a permit for filming and photography activities in public spaces.
This includes:
- any use of Council-managed assets or venues
- using drones in public areas
- vehicle access to public areas such as parks, malls, roads and footpaths
- all student films or photo shoots in public areas or Council-managed assets or venues
- using Council-managed facilities or venues for wedding photography
- wedding photography to promote a photography business
- wedding photography in parks requiring exclusive use of an area or within a bookable space.
What you need to provide
Application details
Let us know if you are:
- applying for a new permit
- adding a location to an existing permit.
You can also opt to schedule a pre-lodgement meeting.
Applicant details
You must provide:
- contact details, including a name, phone number and postal address
- your role in the production (e.g. producer, location manager, etc.)
- at least one on-set contact. Include details such as their name, phone number and email address.
Production details
Provide information about the production, including:
- the production title and type (e.g. corporate video, student film, music video, etc.)
- a short description of the production
- the production budget or economic value
- the start and end date.
Location information
Provide the following details about the location:
- the location type (e.g. park, golf course, sport venue, etc.)
- information about the type of filming activity that will be taking place
- camera, crew and special equipment that will be used
- number of people expected to be in this location
- production date, start and end time
- whether vehicle access, footpath closures or road closures are required.
