How to report an unmaintained private property

You can report unmaintained residence to Council using our online form. 

This includes properties with untidy yards, overgrown gardens or hazardous objects and vegetation.

Use this form to report:

• overgrown grass and general weeds that are at least knee-high and cover 30% or more of the property
• hazardous vegetation that impacts pedestrians or motorists
• pest plants (weeds)
• unsightly objects that cover 30% or more of the property.

Before using this form

• check the issue meets the criteria of an unmaintained property
• try to resolve the problem yourself. The owner may not realise their yard is causing an issue.

What you need to provide

To complete your report, include:

• the location of the private property, including the street number and suburb
• other details to help us locate the property, such as a landmark or the nearest cross street
• your contact details
• at least one photo of the front of the property showing the letterbox (if possible) and the issue causing concern.
