About the project

Early works undertaken in the Vicki Wilson Playground area as part of the Murarrie Recreation Reserve upgrade project began in mid-May 2020 and were completed in mid-August 2020. These works included:

  • new and improved playground equipment
  • a new adult seating area
  • improved lighting and shade
  • accessible paths
  • a resurfaced car park with the new line markings on the parking bays and more car parking spaces.

Vicki Wilson Playground has been reopened and car park access restored.

Council thanks the community for their patience while works were carried out.

These early works were undertaken as part of the larger Murarrie Recreation Reserve upgrade. Council will now aim to complete its draft master plan for the reserve and seek further feedback from the community by early 2021.

Community consultation

Council undertakes sport and recreation precinct plans, in consultation with Council’s community facility tenants and community users, to ensure the optimal use of valuable community facilities and to inform the future investment, development and management of these sites.

Council sought community feedback on a preliminary draft precinct plan for the Murarrie Recreation Reserve including the area in and around the Vicki Wilson playground in mid-2019. This feedback was incorporated in the preliminary draft precinct plan and early works were undertaken between mid-May 2020 and mid-August 2020.

For more information about sport and recreation precinct planning for the Murarrie Recreation Reserve, you can phone Council on 07 3403 8888 or email the project team.

Council thanks the community for providing feedback on these plans.
