About the project
This bikeway connection is part of Council’s commitment to getting you home quicker and safer by creating dedicated bikeways and walking options.
A new three-metre-wide shared path will provide a direct connection between Wishart Community Park at the southern end of Kavanagh Road and the Bulimba Creek Bikeway network to enhance connectivity for local residents.

This bikeway connection is part of the broader Wishart Community Park project and is the first stage of works to occur following community consultation on a concept design in September 2019.

Construction of the bikeway connection started in late 2019. Construction is being undertaken between the hours of 7am-5pm, Monday to Saturday.
To allow for the installation of the new bike path, 10 trees will be removed in this section of the park. To offset vegetation removal, Council will be planting 87 trees (45L equivalent) throughout this section of the park in accordance with Council policies and relevant legislative requirements. Every effort will be made to minimise environmental impacts during construction and a fauna spotter will be present onsite to monitor all tree removals.
A section of Wishart Community Park will be fenced off for the duration of the project to maintain safety around the work zone.
Residents and businesses in close proximity to the works may experience some construction noise, dust, and increased truck movements. Due to workplace health and safety requirements, reversing beepers cannot be switched off.
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to the local community. We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause and appreciate your patience while these important works are completed.
