About the project

Council is actively managing the Kangaroo Point cliff face through regular monitoring and maintenance to ensure stability of the cliff face and the safety of the community.

We are planning future maintenance works at the cliff face from late 2022 to ensure our open spaces are safe and accessible for the community.

This project will ensure climbing facilities can be provided for all ages to enjoy in our liveable city.

We will provide more information about the cliff maintenance works as it becomes available.

Upcoming investigations

We are planning to undertake cliff investigation works as part of our ongoing management of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs from mid-June 2022.

The works will be undertaken between 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and take up to four weeks to be complete, weather and site conditions permitting.

Investigation works will include workers using rope access from the top of the cliffs, as well as an elevated platform at the base of the cliff to inspect the cliff face.

Drone mapping will also be completed along the length of the cliff face and all work will be undertaken inside a fenced area.

Temporary access changes

Investigations will be undertaken in three sections along the cliff face and each section will remain closed while works are underway.

The sections will partially re-open after works are completed and we ask climbers to utilise the open sections during this time. Please follow onsite signage for direction.

We also need to temporarily close the northern stairs located below Joey’s Café while we complete these works. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Council appreciates the popularity of these facilities among Brisbane’s rock-climbing community and the adjacent park space for local residents and visitors to our city. We appreciate your understanding during these works.
