About the project
Brisbane City Council identified the culvert crossing on Roghan Road near Neville Road, Bridgeman Downs as requiring rehabilitation before reaching the end of its lifespan and to ensure this road corridor can cater for future traffic demands.
The project works included:
- repairing cracks to the culvert
- installing restraint blocks inside the culvert walls to provide lateral reinforcement
- removal of vegetation covering the culvert aprons.
Rehabilitation works to the culvert crossing commenced in January 2021. After identifying the presence of a microbat colony within the culvert, the project was put on hold while a species management plan was prepared to ensure Council continues to care for native wildlife keeping them safe and healthy.
Works recommenced in late June 2021 and were completed in September 2021.
The culvert rehabilitation will improve the safety, accessibility and lifespan of the culvert.
