Request tree removal assessment

Link copied

Request an assessment of a tree in a Council park or street tree to determine if removal is required.

When to request a tree removal assessment

You can request the removal of a Council street or park tree for reasons including that the tree is:

  • damaged, split or leaning
  • dead or dying.

When reporting your issue, we encourage you to send photos that show the location of the tree and a close-up of the issue. This will help us locate the specific tree.

Note

For Council parks and street trees requiring maintenance (where you are not requesting a tree removal), complete a tree maintenance issues form.

When not to use this form

Don’t use the form to request removal of a tree:

Council will not remove trees:

  • only for dropping fruit, seeds, flowers or leaves
  • overhanging new pool or solar panels if they were planted prior to the installation of pools or solar panels
  • that obstruct the aesthetic view from private property.

Frequently asked questions

After you request a tree removal assessment, a qualified arborist will assess the tree and determine the best course of action (if any), based on Council’s guidelines.

If works are required, they are prioritised by associated risk. If identified as high-risk works, Council will prioritise these works to be delivered within an appropriate timeframe.

The arborist will decide the outcome following the inspection resulting in:

  • no action
  • pruning works
  • health management (tree rehabilitation)
  • removal and replacement planting.
