Nominate an authority to act on your rate account

Authorise a person or organisation to act on your behalf in relation to your rate account, or remove an existing authority.

When you can nominate an authority

To nominate an authority to act on your rates account, you must be:

  • the property owner
  • the director (if the property is owned by a company)
  • the Trustee (if the property is owned as a Trust)
  • a real estate agency/property manager acting on behalf of the owner
  • a building manager acting on behalf of the owner.

Nominated authorities can:

  • notify Council of changes to rates accounts
  • apply for rebates
  • make enquiries
  • exchange personal, financial and property ownership and occupation information.

What you need to provide
1 Property owner details

You must provide contact details as they appear on your rate account, including your:

  • name
  • phone number
  • email address
  • postal address (if different to the property details provided).
2 Request details

You can apply to authorise a nominated person/organisation or terminate an existing authority.

To nominate an authority, you'll need to provide:

  • the name, contact details and address of the nominated individual or corporation
  • if you want the rates notice to be issued to the nominated authority and how
  • if/when to terminate authority
  • relevant attachments (optional). 

To terminate an existing authority, provide the date in which authority is to be terminated. 

3 Property information

Provide your rate account details such as:

  • rate account number
  • property address. 

A maximum of 3 additional rate accounts can be added.
