Citywide update - Pre-1911 building overlay amendment

Brisbane has been growing and changing for more than 100 years. Council is committed to supporting economic growth and maintaining prosperity in Brisbane while ensuring our traditional character buildings are protected for future generations.

Following research into the early development of Brisbane, Council has added new properties to Brisbane City Plan 2014’s Pre-1911 building overlay.

The amendment package

This amendment package of changes followed the major amendment statutory process outlined in the Queensland Government guideline, Making and amending local planning instruments.

Community engagement

The amendment package was open for community feedback from 18 April until 6 June 2017. Council held three public consultation events and received a total of 110 properly made submissions.

Council has considered all the submissions received and has revised some of the draft overlay maps.

All affected landowners were separately advised by letter about the proposed amendment and how to find out more information.
