Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts presents Danny Widdicombe's Aloha Boys.
Back by popular demand, Aloha Boys return with soulful story-telling, humour and superb musicianship uniting this unique trio, whose music pays no attention to boundaries. Calypso, country-blues, Bossa Nova, retro tunes and original songs all find their way into mesmerising shows that feature Australia's pedal-steel guitar maestro Michel Rose, the fluid, percussive grooves of Kym Ambrose and the heartfelt vocals and Chet Atkins finger-pickin' Gretsch vibes of ARIA nominated Danny Widdicombe.
Danny is well known to City Hall audiences as the front man of The Honey Sliders, who have brought the house down with their Beatles and Neil Young tribute shows. Michel Rose is the most in-demand pedal-steel guitarist in Australia, with a full dance card at the Tamworth Country Music Festival every year, and a history of touring and recording with some of the country's most loved artists. Rounding out the trio, Kym Ambrose brings his innate musicality to the drum kit, and the experience of 45 years in the jazz, country, soul and Brazilian musical realms. This is a concert to sooth the soul.
This Lord Mayor's City Hall Concert is produced by Anje West.
