Nature journaling for adults
9:30am to 11:30am
Suitable for ages 18+
Free
Take some time out in nature and be inspired to create your own unique nature journal. Nature journaling is the practice of recording your interactions with nature on paper - you can use sketches, paintings, poetry, species lists, numbers, graphs, cartoons and more.
Worried that you can’t draw or write? No problem, there is no ‘right way’ to do it! Environment Centre staff will guide you through simple exercises that will help you learn the basics and uncover your own way of nature journaling.
The workshop will include a short stroll through the forest so you can slow down, engage your senses and connect with nature. We'll take the time to observe and gather inspiration before sitting down to practice nature journaling techniques. After the workshop, feel free to visit the Environment Centre or remain in the reserve to continue nature journaling.
Requirements: Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring your own art basic materials (unlined A4 sketchpad/notebook, HB and 2B pencils, and any other materials you’d like to use), a stool, cushion or picnic blanket to sit comfortably outdoors, as well as drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site.
Note: Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
