Businesses build staff morale via online coaching program

When it comes to performance reviews, managers and staff shared a common view they weren’t hitting the mark, says a Brisbane-based human resource business.

Enter HR Maximised, who developed a web-based platform Edge Conversations to help engage staff in meaningful conversations with their manager via six focus areas in a year.

They developed the product after working directly with more than 200 companies over the past three years to build purpose-driven conversations in the workplace.

HR Maximised owner Ms Petch said Edge Conversations facilitates a 50-minute chat each month between staff and their manager to provide an in-depth perusal of how people are doing at work.

“We created Edge Conversations after learning performance reviews could be done better to create a sense of satisfaction and connection to the business,” she said.

“It helps lift staff morale, build rapport between manager and employee, and identifies issues early on which increases employee productivity and engagement.

“We wanted employees to feel valued and trusted via our platform which aims to increase staff retention.”

HR Maximised was a proud recipient of a grant in the 2022 Lord Mayor’s Women in Business Grant.

“We put the $5000 of grant funding toward marketing and to launch Edge Conversations to the wider business community,” she said.

“I am excited to see the collaborations and networks grow among other grant recipients.”

Ms Petch said businesses pay an initial setup fee which can be as low as $2500 for a business with 20 employees.

“I have amazing and diverse clients who work in fascinating industries who want strong workplaces and to be good bosses, so we help guide and coach them in that space and build their skill sets,” she said.

“Helping other businesses is such an awesome feeling with no two days the same.”

Ms Petch has years of experience behind her in human resources specifically on a regional level and shared her insight into how to run a successful business.

Build your network,” she said.

“Being a business owner in the beginning is scary but having that phone, a friend and support is invaluable. I rely on my network to give me focus and direction and belief in what I can do.

“In my experience in Brisbane other business owners are so happy to share and collaborate and support.

“If you are open and honest you will get that back tenfold in support.

“There is nothing like having other business owners who understand the triumphs and trials you go through.

“Also, start talking to your employees and have honest conversations.”
