Brisbane City Council has 22 swimming pools across the city which provide opportunities for fun, fitness and recreation. Visit a Council pool to cool off, relax, enjoy water play, or improve your fitness with lap swimming or a group fitness class.

While Council owns the 22 pools, private operators/lessees manage each pool. Pool facilities differ between venues and pool opening hours may vary between venues and seasons. View individual pool pages for detailed information.

Queensland Government Companion Card

All Council pools honour the Queensland Government Companion Card. This card allows free entry for anyone accompanying a person with a disability who requires attendant care support. 

Water safety

When you're at a public pool, Keep Watch to keep your child/ren safe around water. To be water safe, follow these steps.

  1. Be alert.
  2. Supervise your children around water.
  3. Learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  4. Follow the pool's conditions of entry.

Council endorses the Royal Life Saving Society's Keep Watch program.

Think of other pool users and choose the swim lane most suitable for your swim speed and purpose.

$2 Summer Dips 

Council is bringing back the popular $2 Summer Dips initiative from December to February to encourage residents to get active, cool down, and enjoy Council pools for less this summer.

We announced the return of $2 Summer Dips in this year's budget as part of a package of cost-of-living initatives to take pressure off household budgets.

We'll discount general entry fees to pools to $2 per entry from 1 December 2024 - 28 February 2025.

What's included

Admission types included in the $2 Summer Dips initiative are:

  • adult general entry
  • child general entry
  • concession general entry
  • 3-person family pass (1 adult and 2 children)
  • 4-person family pass (2 adults and 2 children)
  • additional adult
  • additional child
  • other general entry admission types charged by lesses including:
What's excluded
  • Entry to Chermside Pool water park and Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool large double-loop slide are excluded from the $2 Summer Dips initiative.
  • Lessee-operated pool programs are also excluded from the initiative, including:
    • learn-to-swim classes
    • swimming squads
    • school swimming
    • aqua aerobics classes which are not part of Council's Active and Healthy program
    • hirer agreements and events.

15 of Council's 22 pools have water play facilities for children.

Access for everyone

20 of Council's pools have disabled access/facilities such as accessible changing rooms, ramps and mobility lifts.

We run an extensive program of water-based Active and Healthy classes at our Council pools.
