The Gabba (Gabba traffic area)
A two hour parking limit applies on all unsigned streets Monday to Friday - 7am to 7pm. During events at the Gabba a 15-minute parking limit applies on all unsigned roads from 7am to 10pm.
You can park between 'P no limit' signs in signed streets. These signs usually appear only on one side of the road.
If you live within the Gabba traffic area, you can apply for a parking permit.
Residential parking permits allow residents to park unrestricted on the street in their area, with certain conditions.
- are exempt from the signed traffic area time limit when parking near their property
- must clearly display their permit on the vehicle's windscreen or dashboard
- are able to park in metered parking bays signed 'resident permit excepted' (free of charge with no time restriction)
- may also park in other areas signed 'resident permit excepted' (with no time restriction)
Permits do not allow residents to park in designated statutory restricted areas, such as:
- clearway zones
- loading zones
- no stopping zones
- bus zones
- taxi zones
To help Brisbane motorists easily identify when they’ve parked within The Gabba Traffic Area, Brisbane City Council is trialling new high visibility Traffic Area Reminder Signage. The additional signage is located underneath street signs and will complement the existing signage located on roads leading into these areas.
The six-month trial is in response to a recommendation of the Parking Taskforce and will help make parking easier for Brisbane residents and visitors.
Council will monitor the effectiveness of the signs throughout the six-month trial and, if successful, will look to progressively roll out similar signage to other Traffic and Parking Control Areas across Brisbane.
