Egg-cellent Easter school holiday adventures in Brisbane

It's school holidays again and families are spoiled for choice with so many boredom-busting things to do for free right across Brisbane.

We've put together a list to help keep kids and teens entertained and parents smiling.

Easter egg-citement

Hop into Easter fun at Victoria Park from Friday 29 March - Monday 1 April for egg-citing adventures with something for everyone. No yolking – there's heaps to do including The Great Easter Bunny Trail, Easter orienteering and craft, live music at Park Vibes, a special visit from the Easter Bunny and some great competitions and prizes to be won. Hop to it!
Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs is back for an egg-cellent Easter movie double feature. Cosy up for a night under the stars with friends and family on Saturday 30 March at Victoria Park. Screenings including family favourites Peter Rabbit2: The Runaway (2021, rated G) at 6.30pm, followed by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005, rated PG) at 8pm. No bookings are required. Grab your picnic blanket and your favourite snacks or visit the on-site food trucks that will be serving up some delicious food and drink for you to buy.

Discover a world of wonder at Roma Street Parkland's newest kids event – Playtopia! Playtopia offers a range of activities designed for kids aged 5-12 years to explore, learn and create unforgettable memories. Bookings not required.

Explore habitats with virtual reality at Downfall Creek Bushland Centre. Come on a virtual journey to explore our planet's different habitats and discover the animals that live in them. See how these places differ, how animals have adapted to living in them and what might happen if these environments change.
Downfall Creek Bushland Centre is hosting a night adventure at Raven Street Reserve. Enjoy a guided night walk with staff from Brisbane City Council's environment centres and experience the wonders of Downfall Creek and Raven Street Reserve by night.
Experience Stomp with Aunty Sharron at Downfall Creek Bushland Centre. Join Aunty Sharron, meet her animal puppet friends, and have a laugh with her cheeky puppet Dinawan-Emu as you connect to the past, present and future creating new footprints on Mother Earth together.

Freestyle scooter coaching is being held at Quinn's Street Park, Balmoral – perfect for kids with energy to burn. Learn new skills on your scooter and find out how to use the park safely. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people aged 6-17.

Made Concepts is bringing its coaching programs to Council basketball courts these school holidays, with drills, games and 3x3 action. These free basketball skills sessions are suitable for young people aged from 6-12 years.
If your child is ready to upskill and take their bike riding knowledge off-road, beginner junior mountain bike skills training is happening at Gap Creek Reserve Picnic Area on Wednesday 3 April. Sessions are held on grass and presented as part of Council's Cycling Brisbane program.
Riding is more fun on 2 wheels. Wheely Fun is designed to help kids take their bike skills to the next level. In just one session, our friendly trainer will help your young one move from training wheels or balance bikes to 2 wheels. They'll also provide tips to encourage them after the lessons ends.
The team fitness challenge at J. C. Slaughter Falls on Thursday 4 April will make exercise fun. The event includes a giant Connect 4 obstacle relay, group exercise challenge, tyre-pulling challenge, team tug-of-war, tic-tac-toe relay and more.
Experience interesting and popular games that are played around the world including Egypt, Africa, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Australia. Calamvale District park is hosting multicultural games on Friday 5 April. This interactive program is great for hand-eye coordination and loads of fun for young people 8-17 years.

Park Play is back at Victoria Park on 1-3 April and 8-10 April. Dive into the wonders of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) with a dynamic blend of fun and learning. The specially curated free activities will captivate young minds, fostering creativity, critical thinking and a love for exploration.
Kids will love taking a trip back in time at the Dinosaur Time Machine event at Brisbane Powerhouse from 9-13 April. Join 2 time-travelling scientists as they explore all things dinosaurs on this adventurous ride into the prehistoric world. Science, circus, puppetry and plenty of imagination combine when this award-winning production returns to Brisbane Powerhouse to entertain (and sneakily educate) kids during the school holidays. Tickets start at $29 per adult and $26 per child.

Set your child’s imagination free with books, craft, activities and more at Council’s 33 libraries. Whether they enjoy curling up in a comfy chair to journey to a fictional world, or engaging in hands-on workshops, there is something for every age group to enjoy – and it's all free.
