New World City Internship Program
Brisbane City Council is committed to supporting Brisbane’s international students from our Sister Cities through the New World City Internship Program.
The New World City Internship Program will provide 10 students with the opportunity to gain valuable degree-related experience with Brisbane-based businesses through a four-week paid internship program.
The program is designed to enhance the future employment prospects of international students and support their professional development, while providing small-to-medium sized Brisbane businesses the opportunity to leverage the knowledge, cultural understanding and language skills from international emerging talent.
Ten internship placements are available, offering practical full-time work experience from 3 to 28 February 2020. Students will be selected from a variety of education disciplines and matched with the most relevant employer to suit their skillset. Host businesses may be from a range of sectors including aviation, digital and technology, education and training, health and aged care, media, professional services, tourism and hospitality, and trade and investment development.
Brisbane-based businesses interested in hosting a student can submit an expression of interest (EOI) online.
Students interested in the program can submit an application online or:
- check the eligibility criteria page
- email the International Relations and Multicultural Affairs Unit
- phone Council on 07 3403 8888 for more information.
Internship application and host business EOI open from Monday 9 September to Sunday 6 October.
To ensure a positive experience for both students and host businesses, placements are limited and subject to suitability.
