Monthly construction update - CBD

March 2024

Construction activities in March will include:

  • continued works in the CBD site compound including earthworks and concreting for the plaza area
  • relocating the navigation channel closer to the CBD and underneath the bridge structure to allow marine works to progress towards Kangaroo Point which involves:
    • reducing the vessel clearance height to 12.3m above sea level
  • installation of final overwater bridge deck span over the navigation channel
  • continued construction of the above-water restaurant and bar and the café in the CBD plaza area
  • continued closure of the City Botanic Gardens Riverwalk for approximately four months.

What to expect

Expected impacts:

  • construction activities including excavation, steel fixing, welding, scaffolding and concreting works
  • barge movements for materials and equipment deliveries
  • noise and low levels of vibration associated with the use of equipment and machinery such as cranes, drill rigs, concrete pumps and trucks
  • lighting associated with night works
  • deliveries of machinery and equipment to the CBD site.
  • traffic control and signage to direct pedestrians, cyclists, scooter riders and motorists around work areas.
