Monthly construction update - Kangaroo Point

April 2024

Construction activities in April will include:

  • continued works in Scott Street including earthworks and concreting for the construction of the northern footpath
  • installation of the lift shaft in C.T. White Park 
  • continued installation of concrete furniture and garden beds on the bridge deck
  • installation of precast stairs connecting Scott Street to C.T. White Park
  • trenching and earthworks in C.T. White Park and Hamilton Street for drainage installation
  • continued installation of the pedestrian shade canopy and privacy screens on the bridge deck
  • bridge deck concrete pours from C.T. White Park
  • installation of the final overwater bridge deck span (the final piece of the bridge connecting the CBD to Kangaroo Point will be installed by mid-2024).

What to expect

  • construction activities including excavation, steel fixing, welding, scaffolding and concreting works
  • barge movements for materials and equipment deliveries
  • noise and low levels of vibration associated with the use of equipment and machinery such as cranes, rock breakers, concrete pumps, excavators and trucks
  • lighting associated with night works
  • deliveries of machinery and equipment to the CBD site
  • traffic control and signage to direct pedestrians, cyclists, scooter riders and motorists around work areas.

Construction hours

Where possible, works will be undertaken during standard hours from 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday and 6.30am to 5pm on Saturdays.

Ongoing out-of-hours works

Out-of-hours works are required due to lane closure requirements, tide levels and size of concrete pours.

Upcoming out-of-hours works will include:

  • intermittent concrete pours from the Kangaroo Point site from 5am, Monday to Saturday
  • low-impact bridge deck construction activities, which will continue until 4am, Monday to Saturday and include steel fixing, welding, transporting equipment and materials on barges, and crane lifts
  • intermittent low-impact cable stressing activities will continue until 3am, Monday to Saturday
  • intermittent low-impact bridge works in the marine area, including the removal of temporary marine structures, works on the restaurant module and canopy works from 5am-11pm, Monday to Saturday, weather and conditions permitting.
