Monthly construction update - Kangaroo Point

February 2024

Construction activities in February will include:

  • continued excavation, including rock breaking to install stormwater drainage and underground services along Scott Street
  • installation of concrete furniture and garden beds
  • excavation and backfill works in C.T. White Park to install the elevator pit
  • reinstate riverside shared pathway in C.T. White Park and remove temporary shared path
  • bridge deck concrete pours from the marine construction area
  • delivery via barge and installation of steel bridge deck spans in the Brisbane River.

What to expect

  • construction activities including excavation, rock breaking, steel fixing, welding, scaffolding and concreting works
  • barge movements for materials and equipment deliveries
  • noise and low levels of vibration associated with the use of equipment and machinery such as cranes, rock breakers, concrete pumps, excavators and trucks
  • lighting associated with night works
  • traffic control and signage to direct pedestrians, cyclists, scooter riders and motorists around work as required.

Construction hours

Works will generally be undertaken from 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday and 6.30am to 5pm on Saturdays.

Some out-of-hours works will be required due to lane closure requirements, ambient temperatures, tide levels and size of concrete pours.

Upcoming out-of-hours works will include:

  • intermittent concrete pours from the Kangaroo Point site from 5am, Monday to Saturday
  • intermittent overnight concrete pours from the CBD site to the marine construction area between 6.30pm and 6.30am, Monday to Saturday.

Marine-based construction hours extended

Low-impact marine construction hours will continue until 4am, Monday to Saturday.

Intermittent low-impact bridge substructure works in the marine area will also continue, including the removal of marine temporary works from 5am to 11pm, Monday to Saturday, weather and conditions permitting.

Low-impact construction activities will include work on bridge piers, bridge decks and main mast in the river, including steel fixing, welding, transporting equipment and materials on barges and crane lifts.
